Since the Great White Shark occupies such a large portion of a diver and non-divers psyche alike, and since its the most infamous, controversial and misunderstood marine predator as well as becoming one South Africa's most popular wildlife draw-card for the world's visitors, it is only fitting that we dedicate an entire set of pages to this most supreme of creatures - Carcharodon carcharias the Great White Shark.

Cage Diving with Sharks
Cage Diving with the Great White Shark is possibly one of the most exhilarating experiences on the planet! It also proves that these awesome animals are not the hungry monsters we have come to know.
Cage Diving takes place from the small fishing town of Gansbaai about two hours drive from Cape Town. There after a short briefing you are taken by boat to Dyer Island home of 60 000 Cape fur seals. it is alongside this island in a channel known simply as Shark Alley that has one of the world's highest concentrations of Great White Sharks.
Price of Day tour Great White Shark excursion is R1650/person.
INCLUDES TRANSFERS FROM CAPE TOWN
For the door to door return road transport service, the pickup time would normally be about 5 45am and the drop off time would be between 3 0pm and 4pm. During the afternoon before the trip date we would phone our mutual guests to advise them of the defined time our driver will fetch them, or to let them know their expected arrival time, if they choose to drive themselves to our site.
Great White Cage Diving operates 363 days of the year, weather dependent – closed on 25th of December and 1st of January.
Our boat licensed to carry 20 passengers and 5 crew has proved to be popular for individual and group bookings as well as for private
charters including for a number of international film and television crews. The average divers per trip is 15 to allow each diver to have
maximum diving time.
Our on board videographer who is fluent in English and French records the experiences of the trip. After docking the DVD recording is
shown with guests then having the option to purchase this DVD at ZAR350.00 per copy. Guests are most welcome to also make their own
recordings and take their own photos.
No diving certification is required to carry out shark cage diving.
The Great White excursion includes:
- a welcome light pre trip meal and drinks on arrival and the briefing
- 15-20 minute boat drive to the dive site for shark cage diving and close encounters
- and sightings of the magnificent Great Whites and other sea life
- diving equipment including wetsuits, hoodies, booties and towels
- the services of our experienced crew including our experienced skipper, internationally renowned shark handler
- recognised for his exceptional abilities to attract the Great Whites and our talented on board videographer
- a cooler snack box containing refreshments on board for self service
- hot shower facilities are available for use after the diving excursion
- hot drinks while viewing the DVD
- a light buffet style lunch in our great venue that overlooks the Kleinbaai Harbor slipway, after viewing the DVD of the day’s trip
- the option to buy the recorded DVD of the trip at ZAR350.00 per DVD.
- Underwater digital cameras are available for hire, including the downloading onto disc, for ZAR350.00.
- We sell White Shark Diving Co branded golf style shirts, t-shirts and caps.
The Great White shark is a surface feeder. The shark activity takes place on or just below sea level. When guests are not in the cage they
enjoy refreshments while viewing of the Great Whites and other sea life from the boat’s upper deck. Guests who do not want to go in the
cage are most welcome to join in for the viewing trip.
For the first dive guests are normally in the cage for about 30 minutes. After all the guests have been in the cage, divers take turns for subsequent dives.
