Why not?
Afterall Cape Town has some of the most beautiful beaches
in the world where white sands dip gently into placid
waters. There are no currents, no wave action and no
underwater surge. Diving in these conditions is like
diving into a gigantic swimming pool. The setting is
just perfect too. Cape Town is legendary for its spectacular
natural beauty. Green mountains soar above the blue
and white shoreline creating a backdrop that is unrivalled
and everyone knows that of all the places to visit in
Africa, Cape Town tops them all. Apart from diving there
are so many other activities. Take a hike or the cable
way up Table Mountain, or a tour to the beautiful winelands,
or hire a car and explore the Cape peninsula right to
the tip and the Cape of Good Hope. There is so much
to do, one would be excused if you forgot about scuba
diving in Cape Town altogether! (to find out more about
everything other than diving check out www.cruise-sa.co.za).
However,
if one is fooled in thinking that paradise is above
water, wait until you find out what is underwater. Cape
Town is uniquely wedged between two contrasting ocean
currents - a warm current from the Indian Ocean and
a cold current originating in the Antarctic. The mingling
of waters gives rise to a marine life so varied and
unique in the world that they are found nowhere else
on the planet. This high degree of endemism in Cape
Town makes for some fantastic diving. Where else in
the world can one dive with seals, whales, penguins,
sharks (Great Whites, Makos, sevengill cowsharks, shysharks,
pyjama sharks, catsharks, gulley sharks), butterflyfish,
cuttlefish, stingrays, nudibranchs, seabreams and tons
of unique invertabrates all in one big marine reserve
that wraps snugly around the Cape peninsula. Apart from
the marine life, Cape Town also boasts dozens of wreck
sites, a favourite among scuba divers and underwater
critters alike. The wrecks of Cape Town vary from ancient
wooden three-masters to modern Naval frigates and minesweepers
all concealing a long and colourful history from the
days when they were afloat.

So, if you have never learned to scuba dive, why not
contact us on your next visit to Cape Town. We at Cruise
Sub Aqua have covered almost two decades of dive training
and are endorsed and supported by the world's leading
diver education agency - PADI International (the Professional
Association of Diving Instructors). Our PADI Instructors
are top-notch, patient and professional and infuse a
wealth of knowledge and enjoyment into what in unarguably
the best thing any human can do since their birth. There
are a number of ways to learn to dive that appeal to
certain budgets and schedules:
- The easiest way is to enroll in a PADI Discover
Scuba Course. This course takes in full day, costs
only R500 per person and allows you to experience the
wonders of the underwater world in calm, shallow conditions
under the guidance of a PADI professional.
- If you want a bit more of a qualification then
the PADI Scuba Diver Course is the one for you.
This course is 2 days long and involves training the
diver in more skills and includes more knowledge development
sessions. The best part of the course is the qualification
gives you a dive rating to a depth of 12 metres that
can be utilized anywhere in the world under the guidance
of a PADI professional.
- The most popular diver training course is the
PADI Open Water Diver Course. The duration is
4 days long, and involves greater knowledge development
and more underwater skills that will enable the diver
to dive independently of a PADI professional anywhere
in the world to a depth rating of 18metres.
Naturally,
once you have done these PADI Dive Courses, you will
want to do more and we at Cruise Sub Aqua provide it.
